Happy Captcha
Captchas ask us to prove we’re human. They typically ask us to select bicycles, traffic lights, or crosswalks from a grid of images, or to drag a slider from left to right. But does the ability to click a few boxes or move an object sideways really make us human? Is humanity defined by rudimentary pattern recognition and fine motor skills?
I contend that our capacity to feel emotion and experience happiness is far more fundamental to what makes us human. Happy Captcha is designed to make those mandatory moments of verification into moments of reflection and affirmation. To remind us to be happy and kind to ourselves, since after all, we are just human.
